👋🏽 thanks for stopping by :)
i am a civic data scientist and an AI professor.
Officially, I am a Professorial Lecturer in artificial intelligence and data science at American University’s Kogod School of Business, where I teach about democratizing innovation and new technologies.
I also co-teach Programming and Data for Policymakers at The John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
I spent years spearheading consequential journalism with data-driven methods, and continue to be Data Editor at The Investigative Reporting Workshop, American University’s nonprofit and independent newsroom.
Off campus, I help modernize state courts with Pew Charitable Trusts and support data-driven work at Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights.
I live in Washington, DC with my (life & writing) partner Katherine, a reporter at POLITICO.
